[START] Pre-Primary Methodology

Este curso está disponível apenas para escolas parceiras que adotam o selo START.

Target Audience

This course is designed for English teachers working in pre-primary contexts in Brazil who would like to teach language and content in an integrated way.

Course description
The course will consolidate teachers’ understanding of the characteristics of pre-primary learners, the teaching approaches that are most suited to this age group and the key issues in teaching content subjects within English programmes at this level. By the end of the course, teachers will have gained a better understanding of how to use materials and adapt them for their specific groups of 3, 4 and 5-year-olds. Participants will be able to use a variety of techniques and scaffolding strategies that will encourage children to understand and talk about content in English, while developing their cognitive skills and understanding of the world. Participants will be able to understand the structure of lesson plans and deliver lessons successfully, as well as assess their students, taking into consideration the specific characteristics that very young learners possess.
